The owners of Black Mountain Chocolate & AnTHM Town Arts will join forces to create their tastiest recipe to-date, the DIP ‘N DRIZZLE. For the love of chocolate and art, please bring your children, 12:30-3:00pm, for a Dip N’ Drizzle art contest. For $5 each, children ages 3-12 receive a mini canvas, drizzle stick & dipping chocolate with which to create a chocolate masterpiece! Completed works will be hung and judged by vote from Black Mountainers June 10-15; the winner, announced Saturday, June 16, receives a Black Mountain Chocolate

Join us at Black Mountain Ale House for tastings from New Belgium Brewery plus wine, hors d’oeuvres and tasty samplings by Chef Matt Helms. Meet and greet with artist Sally Sweetland of Swannanoa in the back gallery of the Ale House, followed the band “Get Right Duo” at 7:30pm. The soft, ethereal and colorful abstract oil paintings of Swannanoa's Sally Sweetland, add a warm palette of color and dimension to the walls of the Ale House. "Seasons in nature, the five elements, sacred geometries, the writings of Peter Kingsley and the mystical traditions of the world are all the perennial interests and inspiration to the artist"

Black Mountain’s summer heats up as the Monte Vista Hotel and AnTHM Gallery, in collaboration with CubaGallery of Fine Art in Florida, present a multi-weekend arts event celebrating Cuban culture through art, music, discussion, cuisine and cocktails.

The Monte Vista Hotel will kick off Arte de Cuba! on Friday, July 20, 6:30-8:30pm, and continue the event for 4 weekends through Sunday, August 12, 2012.  The show will hang through August 26.

This is the Golden Age of art in Cuba.  For 40 years Cuba’s art grew up literally while we were not looking.  Only recently have we been able to see what Europe and the rest of the world have known for some time … the rich maturity, diversity and spirit of Cuban artists who live and work on the exotic island.  Who among us knew there are twenty-one college level art schools in Cuba feeding this rich brew of artistry?

Now, Arte de Cuba! celebrates the resourcefulness and inventado, the inventivenessof the Cuban people despite their many struggles, at a time when Cuban art is exploding onto the world scene.  Arte de Cuba!  will present six artists from Havana, and Güira de Melena, whose works explore universal themes of censorship, identity and hope in a diverse array of content and imagery.  These works have just recently crossed the Florida Straits to the U.S. and Black Mountain.
